Most of us in the USA conjure up a 1950's image of the bomb shelter era, when the words "bomb shelter" are mentioned. The even younger set, has no earthly idea of what a "bomb shelter" is or even why we would have them.
Yesterday, I watched the International House Hunter show on HGTV and the reality of the world came front and center. A young lady was searching in the city of Tel Aviv. Each condo she looked at, had a room that was purposefully created as a bomb shelter. One of the condos was an older building without a bomb shelter in each condo. But, never fear, there was one located down on the street, she could use.
She wanted to be where the action was downtown with the cafes and restaurants. All of the meeting places that a young person would desire for gathering with their friends and family. I am sure there were bomb shelters nearby too.
As a mother, is this not what we want for our children? A good life filled with peace, friends and family. Yes, we can have different opinions and religions, but does that mean we have to forcibly press our ways on others. Is this not a global Internet community of communication and business? Where differences are put aside because we can not physically see them with our eyes. And prejudices are left at the keyboard.
Could not the people of many, stop the idiots of few from causing all of this chaos? I believe in our youth and the eyes they see the world through. What are their answers to this mess?
What is your answer to the mess?
You have a friend here! Hopefully through a positive, Chrisitan influenced blog we can get through the tough stuff, blow off steam, celebrate life and be friends.

Geese and Airplanes
Shame on you Brooklyn, NY! I read in this morning's paper where you euthanized/killed 400 geese because of the airplane incident. We are in their air space, not the other way around. I think some other alternative could have been found and implemented! But we are the culture of "instant". Instant gratification, instant news, instant abortions, instant communications, instant, instant, instant! We have made it so easy to just do away with or kill, when something or someone is inconvenient to our society.
If we don't like our spouses, divorce them. If we want to have unprotected sex and get pregnant, abort the baby. (Don't get me wrong, I know some abortions are medically needed, but those situations are few and far between.) Can't deal with your kids, ship them off, hire a nanny or give them the latest and greatest gadget. What the devil happened to well thought out decisions, working things out or dealing with it?
I can tell you what happened. In God We Trust was lost along the way. Oh, the bible tells us that toward the end of times we will see this happening at a rapid rate. No one cares. I see young adults all of the time, who decide they will party now and when they are senior citizens, they will find God and settle down into a religious routine. Guess what, you might not make it to being a senior citizen. Jesus comes and you aren't saved...hell. He could come in the next two minutes and it is over, done deal people. And this is exactly what satan wants because he knows he is defeated. He wants to take as many of us as he can, when God puts him in the abyss.
If you feel that religion with the established churches is not for you, I understand. We just left our church after twelve years. And we were very active there. Get a bible and start reading the New Testament, starting with the section called John. This will help you begin to understand. You can read the Old Testament later.
Inside you dwells the Holy Spirit! Yes, even now He is there waiting on you to ask Him in your life. You see when Jesus went back to Heaven, He sent the Holy Spirit to be our Paraclete (helper, advocate). And Jesus had to go back to Heaven in order for the Holy Spirit to come. Did you know that the disciples where still shy about their experiences with Jesus and proclaiming them to the world? Until, Jesus went to Heaven and the Holy Spirit came to dwell inside of them. Then they became bold and confident!! Even in trying situations and death.
You can become bold and confident too! The Holy Spirit is waiting on you just to ask! Make it simple by saying, "Jesus, I am sorry for the way I have lived in sin. Please forgive me my sins and awaken the Holy Spirit inside of me. In Jesus name. Amen."
Your life is changed forever. Now you have to learn to try to walk in His ways. See, I said try. God does not expect perfection, just a loving heart who is trying to follow His ways.
This "instant" world, only brings temporary solutions and happiness. God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are eternal solutions and eternal life.

Charlotte, NC Billboards Need to Come Down!
This should be a wake up call for every Christian in North Carolina. We have become so inclusive in our churches, that we have opened the door for groups like the NC atheist association and their billboards "One Nation Indivisible".
I am ashamed of myself and other Chrisitians. We just left our own church after 12 years. They were busy reaching out of the country and not really taking care of the community. Oh, they had the list of money and activities given to the community and by their standards it was a great amount. Then we started visiting other churches and found the community outreach of our previous church was like spitting in the wind. It is the Pastor's spin on community involvement, which makes a real difference. We learned this from the first chuch we visited.
They were welcoming a local Hispanic church into their fold. The Hispanic church had no building, just the spirit of Jesus Christ's hope for their future. My husband and I looked at each other and both said, this would never happen at our old church. Easier to give a little money, feed a few families, but keep the stinch of real life outside the church doors. One more thing, this church was renting out all of the July fourth rides in the local park. Not just for their members but for any one who wanted to ride. And I did not see one "fund raiser" sign anywhere. Yes, we will go back for another visit! Even though, these churches appear to be few and far between, we are hoping to find more during our search.
I believe when Christians are so wrapped up in ourselves and not our community, we open the door for Athiests and Terrorists. And if you think the Athiests buying the bill boards in the "Bible Belt" of the South is a concern, think again. Seeds of Terrorism are also being planted. So, there is so much more at stake. Our future and our children's future is slowly disentigrating before our very eyes.
What can we do about it? Walk out the church doors and back into our communities. Tell your Pastor, Priest, Preacher or Spiritual Leader that you want to start as a pebble thrown into the middle of a pond. Working the ripples of your community and spreading throughout your state and then country. How dare we go to other countries and pour money into them and tell them what to do! When we can't even take care of our own back yard. It is arrogance and ego at work, slowly tearing us down.
Just a little fact and opinion for the Athiests. Did you know our Founding Fathers were 204 strong with 88 Episcopalian/Anglican, 30 Prebyterian, 27 Congregationalists, 7 Quakers, 6 Dutch Reformed/German Reformed, 5 Lutheran, 3 Catholics, 3 Hugenots, 3 Unitarians, 2 Methodists, and 1 Calvinist? The Constitution's date line states "In the year of our Lord". All 50 states acknowledge God in their state constitutions. Yes, our Founding Fathers did try to stay secular so that no one's rights would be violated. But everything that was written had the backing of strong faith beliefs. They opened each meeting with prayer for guidance and God's help in planning this new country.
Now on to the change in the Pledge of Alligence in 1954. It signalled a want from the American people to establish themselves as a kinder, freer nation. We wanted to differentiate ourselves from the Communists who were Athiests, because the world saw first hand their idea of freedom for a select race of people. We did not want to be associated with Communism's inhumane treatment of people, who did not fit into their ideal mold of a human being. And yet, you, Athiests would have us go back to being one of the global group. So, where would your freedoms be then? Suppressed, convicted and even killed for wanting nothing more than freedom?
Freedom to annoy us with your ideas and statements. Freedom for us to love and pray for your salvation. And yes, to annoy you with our beliefs. It is this same belief that will take down your bill boards, as Christian wake from their slumber again. I don't mean "take down" in the literal sense. I mean when Chrisitians come together as the community, the community becomes stronger and God's power will be seen again. Some of you will change and others will continue to fight a hopeless battle. In the end, God wins, we win and Satan knows it!
To the company who rented the bill boards to the Athiests. Examine your moral values and your loyalty to the community and country. Once again money, power reign supreme.
Christians, it is time to show the power of Christian businesses. Don't support these companies or any of the other companies who give them business. You have to take a stand to make real change happen. Can't wish it away or ignore it.
To the Athiests, I have one last statement. C.S. Lewis was an Athiest. He set out to prove that Christians believed in God to alleveate their fear of death. Instead C.S. Lewis became a Christian and even in death is one of the top Christian writers of all time. He was Oxford educated and a man respected for fairness and logic. You should read his works, before and after his conversion. My Christianity was weak until I started reading his works and biography. Amazing stuff, no one could ever imagine! If you read all of Lewis's writings and still walk away unaffected, I will say no more to you. I will always pray for you though!

Today is the day that God has made!
I decided to rename my blog because I seem to talk about more than just parenting and kids. Of course being human has made me knowledgeable in all areas of life. Or so I feel, don't you? Opinionated could be another description. I like knowledgeable instead. :)
Take a deep breath and breathe in the life God has given to you. Now exhale all of the negative thoughts, worries, illnesses and anything else that is not from the goodness of God. Keep doing it until you have gotten the nasty, gooped up gunk out of your system. Say each one out loud and wave bye as they leave you. Now take a deep breath in and say the Holy Spirit is in me and I am a child of God. Deserving of His goodness and love.
Will this instantly take care of your financial situation? No. Will this instantly take care of your life situations? No, again. Having the Holy Spirit to assist you during your day in everything you do, yes I SAID EVERYTHING, could turn your life around. You have to make the decisions and you have to have the right actions. He is not one of those magic wand, genie type of gods. He is THE GOD! Gave us a book to use as our life manual. You know the one...B-I-B-L-E that's the book for me.
Did you know that when you stand in front of God, Jesus stands in front of you? God looks through Jesus to see all of your goodness. Whew! That was important fact for me. Because my past is paved with the roads of stupidity, bad decisions, unkind words...Deep breath in, "I am a child of God". "I am a child of God." OK, the past is over, ask forgiveness and go on. But go on trying to follow God's ways, not repeating the past.
And when the devil trys to remind you how unworthy you really are or that your past is so bad...You remind him that Jesus won our victory on the cross! By Grace we are forgiven and we are given permission to move forward with our lives. Live God's glory! The devil also knows his time will come when he will lose and be sentenced to hell. He is just trying to take as many of us as he can with him. Don't let him take you!
Hope for the day is found in Psalm 18
I love you, O Lord, my strength.
2 The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer,
my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge,
my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
3 I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised,
and I am saved from my enemies.
